DISTINGUISHED

—for editors of dictionaries and encyclopedias

You help distinguish lynx from lion, purr
From murmur, kit from cat, and coat from fur.
Maine Coon is not a Persian. Ocelot
Sports dotty coat, and Manx might boast a spot,
But Korat doesn’t. Tigers boast a stripe;
The Yankees, lots. Ball one! But then a strike.
So, each is one, but all are not alike.
Each Jaguar is distinct, though of a type.
